This is one Russ insisted we include on the album from the Psycho Sisters' catalog. I shot up in bed during the "witching hour" (2-4 a.m. I believe) and this song poured out of me. We later recorded this late, late during the "witching hour" as well, in one take. Vocals and all. Only overdubs are some cymbals Russ dipped into a large bronze planter filled with water. You can even hear the water droplets with headphones on! He said he learned that at school for classical percussion. And I thought classical percussion was timpani, snare, and cymbals. Ha! We played the song twice. Both versions were unique. We had to flip a coin to see which one we'd put on the album.
lyrics
Stop this spinning in my head
Stop it, stop it, stop, I said
It’s white noise burnin’ through my brain
Quietly whispering my name
Can’t find the knob to turn it down
It’s much to dark to get around
Won’t somebody come and light the way
It is totally fucking up my day
And it’s making me crazy
It’s making me crazy
Something’s up, it’s going down
It’s not just me
It is going round
Won’t somebody come
And save the day
Or at least a little piece of me
And it’s making me crazy
It’s making me crazy
It’s making me crazy
I recognize another face
It’s time life granted me full grace
How many tickets for this ride
Well I never even asked for one
Oh, please this time can I be done
Making me crazy
It’s making me crazy
It’s making me crazy

Gonzo. Passion. The Ming Vase. Haunting and beautiful. Every listen brings a new favorite.
Do something like this again, Miss Emma. Please let the answer be yes. Please let the answer be yes! alien9
I love it when songwriters revisit their own catalog in different ways. Songs and their meanings evolve over time. Great effort here, and I'm glad I stumbled on it. veenstar

John Drumbo French from Captain Beefheart and The Magic Band worked with Thompson on two albums along with Fred Frith and Henry Kaiser.
Those two French, Frith, Kaiser and Thompson albums led me to this.
Also, Richard Thompson taught Hugh Cornwell (of The Stranglers) how to play the bass guitar in a band when they were both at the same school (Emil and The Detectives?).
With a career spanning 50 years and playing with two of my heroes (French and Cornwell) Thompson has produced a fascinating EP. yellowcakeuf6
